  Promoting and driving traffic to your website is the first and last thing you'll want to do after building a website. After all if nobody sees what you have to share, it's just a lot of wasted time and energy, right!

So to start getting visitors to your website with effective promotion, Follow this easy three step process.

Step One: Classify your websites content

 Simply said, what is your website about? The more concisivly you can answer this question   

Step Two: Targeting Visitors

some questions you should ask yourself are.

• Is my website content, gender or age specific
• Where are the people at that would be interested in my website?
• Where do they hang out?
• What other websites do they look at and frequent?
• How do they find the websites and content they're interested in?

From these answers, build a targeted list of high traffic web sites, blogs, and forums that your audience might frequent.

With the list you have created now begin to go to these related websites and leave comments where you can.

It's very important that you do not Spam the related sites, as you will ruin your websites credibility. Going to these high traffic areas and posting hey look at me, or hey Check this out, could create a short term jump in visitors to your website, but it will most likely just get you banned from the high traffic area.

By actually being more involved with related websites and contributing something of value, the people you are trying to reach are going to be far more interested in going to your content.
